Trump Deletes AI-Generated Image After Backlash from Christian Groups
Former U.S. President Donald Trump deleted an AI-generated image from his Truth Social account following backlash from Christian groups and religious leaders.
The image depicted Trump dressed in white clothing, appearing to heal a sick man by placing his hands on the person's head. Christian groups, including Catholic and evangelical communities, condemned the image as offensive, viewing it as portraying Trump in a messianic role similar to Jesus.
Trump defended the post, stating that it showed him as a doctor, not Jesus, and accused the "fake media" of misinterpreting it. He emphasized that the image was not intended to depict him in a religious figure's role.
The deletion comes amid heightened tensions between Trump and Pope Leo XIV. Trump has criticized the Pope as weak on crime and ineffective in foreign policy. In response, Pope Leo XIV has voiced criticism of U.S. policies, including military actions and migration measures.
This is not the first instance of Trump sharing imagery linking him to religious or papal figures. He previously shared a post portraying himself in papal attire.
The controversy highlights ongoing debates over the use of AI-generated content in political messaging and its intersection with religious sensitivities.
