Taliban Health Ministry Appoints Mullah Syedullah as Director After Bribery Arrest
KABUL — Mullah Syedullah, arrested months ago by Taliban intelligence for bribery involving passports and recently released, has been appointed as Amir of the Directorate of the Minister's Office in the Taliban Ministry of Public Health.
The directorate operates under his father, Khayashnah, who heads the minister's office. The Taliban Interior Ministry's intelligence unit published a video documenting Syedullah's arrest.
The appointment occurs amid repeated corruption investigations and reappointments in the ministry. Mohammad Taher Halim, previously head of the minister's office, was arrested on corruption charges, released on bail, reinstated, and appointed more than 100 relatives and friends to positions.
Abdul Samad Beshiri and Sadaat were arrested by Taliban intelligence for corruption, released on bail, and later rearrested.
Abdul Hakim Hamat was dismissed following an Amu TV report but reappointed as head of ICU and emergency care.
On 25 Hamal, Health Minister Noor Jalal Jalali addressed gathered ministry staff, accusing some television outlets of propagandizing against the ministry.
On 16 Hamal, the ministry spokesman indirectly confirmed arrests of officials for policy non-compliance.
