Taliban Security Forces Arrest Guard in Kabul After Viral Beating Video
Security forces in Kabul have detained a guard following the widespread circulation of a video showing an armed individual striking a teenager with a rifle butt. The footage, which rapidly spread across social media platforms, prompted an immediate operational response from local authorities.
The video clearly depicted an armed uniformed individual using the weapon to strike a young civilian, sparking widespread public discussion online. In response to the growing attention, security officials moved quickly to locate and detain the person responsible.
Khalid Zadran, a spokesperson for the Taliban’s Kabul security command, confirmed the arrest and stated that the suspect was apprehended in the Taymani neighborhood, located within the city’s fourth security district. Following his detention, the individual was transferred to the internal security department for a formal inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The arrest occurs amid a broader pattern of reported confrontations between security personnel and civilians. Similar allegations of excessive force have surfaced in recent months, including prior incidents in Herat province’s Jibril district involving Taliban-affiliated guards. While the Kabul security command has initiated its internal review process, officials have not yet released additional information regarding the investigation’s findings or any subsequent administrative measures.
