Pakistani Military Spokesperson Alleges India Uses Afghanistan for Terrorism Operations

Pakistani Army spokesperson Ahmad Sharif Chaudhry stated that Afghanistan is being utilized by India as an operational base for terrorism, linking the claim to ongoing security challenges within Pakistan. Speaking at a press conference in Islamabad, Chaudhry asserted that cross-border activities have contributed to regional instability.

The Pakistani military reported conducting operations inside Afghan territory in October, targeting infrastructure allegedly linked to terrorist networks. According to military statements, these actions have contributed to a reduction in the frequency of security incidents along the border.

The allegations emerge amid heightened tensions between India and Pakistan. Following a deadly attack in Pahalgam on April 22, 2025, diplomatic relations between the two nations deteriorated, resulting in downgraded diplomatic ties, suspended bilateral treaties, and missile exchanges in May 2025.

Separately, United Nations reports have documented significant civilian casualties in the region. Data indicates that more than 200 civilians were killed during a Pakistani airstrike targeting the Omid medical center in Kabul.

Meanwhile, local conflict resolution efforts have proceeded independently of national authorities. Ethnic elders from communities along the Afghanistan-Pakistan border recently signed a peace and ceasefire agreement. The accord was negotiated and finalized without the participation or mediation of the Taliban.

The Pakistani military’s statements underscore the complex security dynamics in the region, as cross-border accusations, civilian casualty reports, and localized peace initiatives continue to shape diplomatic and military postures.
