Taliban Foreign Minister Hosts Afghanistan-Central Asia Consultative Dialogue in Kabul

KABUL (Afghan Verified) — Taliban Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi hosted the Afghanistan-Central Asia Consultative Dialogue in Kabul, attended by senior representatives from Central Asian countries including Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Turkmenistan.

The meeting, the first such gathering hosted by the Taliban in Kabul since 2021, focused on political, economic, security, trade, transit and regional cooperation issues, according to reports from Amu TV, Hurriyat and Khaama Press.

Speaking at the consultative meeting, Muttaqi emphasized mutual trust and the expansion of ties with Central Asian countries in political, economic, transit, cultural, security and climate areas, Hurriyat reported. He assured participants that security problems in Afghanistan have been fully resolved, investment opportunities created, and projects such as TAPI, CASA-1000 and the Lapis Lazuli Corridor are progressing rapidly.

Muttaqi also stated that a Taliban delegation was participating in negotiations with Pakistan in China's Urumqi with a "sincerity and solution-oriented approach," while reserving the right to defend territorial integrity, Amu TV reported. The talks, hosted by China, covered political, economic, security and regional cooperation topics.

No Central Asian country has formally recognized the Taliban government, though practical contacts continue on trade, border and security matters, Khaama Press noted.
