Local sources in Badakhshan province told Amu TV that a conflict between the Taliban governor of Badakhshan and local Taliban fighters over a gold mine in the Owais area of Shahr-e Buzurg district has led to a ban on local residents working in the mines.

Residents of Shahr-e Buzurg said that despite a decree from the Ministry of Mines under Taliban administration prioritizing locals for employment in gold mines, Taliban fighters have created obstacles preventing them from working.

The residents, who were detained for several hours by local Taliban following the clash on the previous day, stated that no specific crimes were identified against them and they remain barred from accessing their jobs and businesses.

Sources added that the daily operations of ordinary people in Badakhshan's gold mines have stopped as a result, with locals prohibited from mining and gold panning.

The Taliban have not commented on the conflict or the work ban.
