A southwest zone-level football tournament has begun at the central stadium in Helmand province. The event is organized by the Helmand Provincial Directorate of Physical Education and Sports in cooperation with the National Football Federation and receives sponsorship from Etisalat.
Teams from Uruzgan, Ghazni, Zabul, Kandahar, and Helmand are participating. Kandahar defeated Ghazni by a score of one goal to nil in the opening match.
