Retaining Wall Project Completed in Farah at Cost of Over 7 Million Afghanis

A project to construct a retaining wall in Farah province has been completed. The retaining wall is situated in Baghran village in the Bakwah district.

The length of the retaining wall is three hundred thirty four point eight meters. Its height is four meters. The project took five months to complete. The total cost was seven million four hundred fifty one thousand nine hundred ten Afghanis. This amount was provided from the budget of the Ministry of Water and Energy.

Mullah Burhanuddin Minwal serves as the head of the Farah Province Water and Energy Department. According to Mullah Burhanuddin Minwal, the completed retaining wall will protect one hundred eighty houses. It will also protect around one hundred twenty hectares of agricultural land. This protection is from the risks of floods in the area.

Additionally, the project was able to provide employment opportunities to dozens of people. These jobs were available to locals during the construction of the wall.

The local residents have welcomed the completion of this project. These residents have also requested that more similar projects be carried out in the future.

The completion of this retaining wall addresses the issue of flood protection for both residential areas and farmland in the Bakwah district of Farah province. The five month long construction period not only resulted in the physical structure but also contributed to the local economy by employing dozens. With the wall now in place, the one hundred eighty houses and the one hundred twenty hectares of land are now better protected. The call by residents for more projects indicates the need for continued efforts in this direction by the Ministry of Water and Energy.
