Russian President Vladimir Putin held a phone conversation with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian on the developments in the Middle East and tensions stemming from attacks by Israel and the United States on Iran.

The Russian Foreign Ministry issued a press release on Tuesday, March 10, stating that Putin emphasized Russia's principled stance calling for the quickest possible reduction of tensions and resolution of the crisis through political means.

Pezeshkian expressed gratitude for Russia's support, particularly humanitarian aid provided to Iran, according to the press release.

The discussion occurred amid escalating military attacks and tensions in the Middle East, with countries seeking to de-escalate conflicts and prevent the crisis from spreading.

Previously, Putin had spoken by phone with U.S. President Donald Trump, presenting proposals for a swift end to the conflict with Iran.

Reports indicate that the Pentagon expended approximately $5.6 billion in ammunition and weapons during the first two days of its military strikes on Iran.
