Public Health Minister Inaugurates Health Projects Worth Nearly 300 Million Afghanis in Northern Provinces

Public Health Minister Noor Jalal Jalali recently visited northern Afghanistan to inaugurate and launch a series of healthcare infrastructure projects across Jawzjan, Samangan, and Kunduz provinces. According to the Ministry of Public Health, the combined budget for the initiatives totals nearly 300 million Afghanis.

The projects include the construction of a new general hospital in the Mingajik district of Jawzjan province, with an allocated budget of approximately 50 million Afghanis. In the same province, work resumed on a 50-bed hospital in Aqcha district at a cost of 54 million Afghanis. Officials also inaugurated a neonatal care unit at the Jawzjan provincial hospital for 14 million Afghanis, alongside a new health center in Andkhoy district.

In Samangan province, construction began on a general hospital in Hazrat Sultan district. Ariana News reported the facility’s budget at 64 million Afghanis, while Omid Radio cited 62 million Afghanis. Additionally, a 50-bed maternity ward at the Samangan provincial hospital was officially opened at a cost of 60 million Afghanis.

The minister’s tour also covered Kunduz province, where a new hospital in Kalbad district was launched with a budget of 48 million Afghanis. Ministry spokesperson Sharafat Zaman Amarkhel confirmed that all facilities fall under the direct oversight of the Public Health Ministry and are intended to expand medical access in the northern region. The newly inaugurated and ongoing projects are expected to provide essential services, including maternal and newborn care, to local communities once fully operational.
