Pakistan's Defense Minister Suggests Possible Military Action Against Afghanistan Before Ramadan

Pakistan's Defense Minister Khawaja Asif stated that a military action against Afghanistan could take place before the holy month of Ramadan, amid heightened tensions between the two countries.
In an interview with a Pakistani media outlet, Asif said, "My personal view is that it will happen before Ramadan; about 10 to 12 days remain until Ramadan. Of course, I am only speculating and not making a recommendation based on confirmed intelligence. However, this action should be taken as soon as possible." He did not provide details on the nature or scope of the potential action but emphasized that Pakistan would not remain silent against what he called "security threats."
Military analyst Sadiq Shinwari said such remarks, if leading to practical measures and harsher rhetoric, could further tense relations between Afghanistan and Pakistan.
Political analyst Zmaraldin Adib suggested Asif's comments indicate Pakistan seeks to undermine Afghanistan, particularly the current government, and prevent its international recognition, describing Pakistan as a "project-driven state."
The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan has not commented on Asif's remarks. It previously described attributing Pakistan's security incidents to Afghanistan as irresponsible.
