Pakistani Shelling Targets Kunar During Eid Ceasefire Announced by Islamic Emirate

Pakistani forces shelled Afghanistan's Kunar province multiple times during an Eid ceasefire, targeting civilian areas in Naray district, according to local officials.

Kunar Security Command spokesman Farid Dehgan said the Pakistani military carried out 25 heavy artillery attacks since the previous night, striking civilian homes in the Brekot and Doklam areas of Naray district. He provided no casualty figures.

Separate reports from local sources indicated a woman health worker and her three-year-old child were killed in a suspected Pakistani strike in Nari district, with her husband, one son and their driver wounded. The family was traveling in a vehicle from Nuristan's Kamdesh district to Kunar during the ceasefire period.

The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan announced the ceasefire with Pakistan for Eid al-Fitr at the request of some foreign countries, including Saudi Arabia, Qatar and the UAE, according to both reports. Hurriyat described the attacks as proof that the Pakistani regime disregards religious and human values. Local authorities accused Pakistan of violating the truce amid ongoing border tensions, though Kunar Taliban officials did not immediately comment.

The incidents highlight persistent clashes along the Afghanistan-Pakistan border, particularly in Kunar, often linked to militant activity and security disputes.
