Pakistani Forces Fire Artillery on Kunar Districts, Taliban Official Says

Pakistani forces conducted artillery attacks on Nari and Marawara districts in Kunar province last night and this morning, according to local sources and Zia ur Rahman Spin Ghar, head of information and culture for the Taliban in Kunar province.

Spin Ghar said Pakistani forces fired 35 artillery rounds at the Doklam, Brikot and Sungli areas in Nari district, and 37 rounds at several areas in Marawara district. The attacks violate a temporary ceasefire for Eid al-Fitr, requested by Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Turkey.

No human casualties have been reported so far from the shelling, Spin Ghar said, but the attacks continue in Nari district.

The temporary halt in military operations between Pakistan and the Taliban was announced three days after Pakistan's airstrikes on a drug addicts' treatment center in Kabul. Pakistan's information minister warned that operations would resume if any attacks occur.
