Pakistani Customs Seize 30 Kilograms of Silver at Torkham Border Crossing

Pakistani customs officials at the Torkham border crossing seized 30 kilograms of silver hidden inside the tires of a truck originating from Afghanistan.

Ghulam Mustafa, identified as the customs director by Afghanistan International and as a revenue collector by Amu TV, stated that the vehicle was inspected at the import terminal after entering Pakistan from Afghanistan. He said the silver had been concealed within the truck's tires. According to reports citing the Express Tribune, the truck had previously transported an Afghan migrant family to Afghanistan and was stopped upon its return to Pakistan.

Zia Afridi, the customs chief stationed at Torkham, was also present during the operation, according to Amu TV. Officials confiscated both the silver and the truck. The estimated value of the seized silver is approximately 480 million Pakistani rupees.

Pakistani authorities have not provided further details on any arrests of the driver or individuals linked to the smuggling attempt. Taliban officials have not yet commented on the incident.
