Pakistan Launches Rocket Strikes on Villages in Afghanistan's Kunar Province
Pakistani forces carried out rocket strikes on villages in Asadabad district of Kunar province in eastern Afghanistan on Monday evening, local sources said.
The attacks targeted the villages of Kochi, Shahbaz and Koremar, according to the sources. No casualties have been confirmed from the strikes, but residents fled their homes in panic.
The incident follows reports of similar rocket fire a day earlier in the Shali valley of Khas Kunar district.
Taliban authorities have not issued an official response to the latest strikes.
The attacks occur amid escalating cross-border tensions between Pakistan and the Taliban. Pakistan has accused militants of using Afghan territory as a base for operations, a claim denied by the Taliban.
Diplomatic efforts to address the tensions appear to have stalled. Talks held last week in Urumqi between representatives of the two sides ended without agreement.
