Larijani Warns of Alleged '9/11-Style' Plot to Frame Iran
Ali Larijani warned of a conspiracy similar to the September 11 attacks being planned to blame Iran for a major terrorist attack.
In a message on the social media platform X, Larijani claimed remnants of the network linked to Jeffrey Epstein were preparing the plot. He stressed that Iran opposes terrorism in principle and has no hostility toward the American people despite tensions with the United States.
The remarks come as the conflict involving Iran, Israel and the United States enters its 17th day, marked by targeted military strikes from both sides. Officials from Washington and Tehran have rejected mediation proposals, indicating little progress toward de-escalation.
The war began on February 28 when Israel launched a military campaign named "Rising Lions," targeting key sites inside Iran. The United States joined the offensive with its operation called "Epic Wrath," broadening the confrontation into a regional conflict.
During the strikes, Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei was reported killed, along with dozens of senior officials. In response, Iran launched strikes against Israel and several Gulf states, including Qatar, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates, as well as Azerbaijan.
A week after Khamenei's reported death, Iran's Assembly of Experts selected Mojtaba Khamenei as the new supreme leader. The latest accusations reflect a growing information war amid the military escalation, with competing narratives emerging.
