
Laghman Traffic Director Reports 70 Killed, 214 Injured in 80 Accidents Over Past Year
Laghman Traffic Director Maulvi Habibullah Mubarak stated that 80 traffic incidents occurred in the province during the current year, resulting in 70 deaths and 214 injuries among 284 people, including women and children.
The accidents took place along the Kabul-Jalalabad highway, in the center of Mehtarlam city and in various districts of Laghman province, Mubarak told Bakhtar News Agency.
He provided the breakdown of 70 fatalities and 214 injuries, emphasizing that the casualties included women and children.
To curb future accidents, the Laghman Traffic Department has implemented several measures during the year, including the establishment of mobile checkpoints, installation of speed-measuring cameras and confiscation of laser lights from some vehicles to avoid nighttime distractions for drivers.
