Kunduz Authorities Release 109 Individuals Following Drug Rehabilitation Program
Authorities in Kunduz province have released 109 individuals to their families following the completion of a three-month drug rehabilitation program. The release was confirmed by Kunduz Police spokesperson Col. Juma-ud-Din Khaksar, who noted that the participants had successfully concluded the treatment course at a provincial recovery camp.
Col. Khaksar reported that the facility has provided treatment to more than 4,000 individuals over the past four years. At present, over 500 people remain enrolled in the camp’s ongoing recovery programs. The rehabilitation initiative integrates medical care with vocational training, a structure designed to equip participants with practical skills that facilitate their return to daily life and help prevent future substance abuse.
Provincial officials highlighted that the center operates as part of sustained local efforts to manage addiction and support community health. Family members attended the handover to receive the recovered individuals, marking the formal conclusion of the latest treatment cycle. The program provides structured medical supervision alongside practical skill-building workshops. Col. Khaksar emphasized that the vocational component is intended to offer sustainable livelihood options for those who have completed treatment. Camp management confirmed that the facility will maintain its current operational schedule while continuing to process new referrals from across the province.
