
Jonathan Trott Ends Tenure as Afghanistan National Cricket Team Head Coach
Jonathan Trott, head coach of the Afghanistan national cricket team, has stepped down from his role.
His contract expired on Thursday, coinciding with the Afghan team's final World Cup match, in which they defeated Canada.
During his tenure, the English coach, a former England national team player, led Afghanistan to the semi-finals of the World Cup for the first time in 2024, according to Bakhtar News Agency.
At the conclusion of the game against Canada, Afghan players cheered Trott and expressed gratitude for his efforts with the national team. Trott waved farewell to fans and team members at the stadium.
The Afghanistan Cricket Board issued thanks to Trott for his efforts and achievements with the team.
