Rashid Khan Claims 1,000th Career Wicket in Gujarat Titans Win Over Delhi Capitals
Afghan leg-spinner Rashid Khan delivered a match-winning performance for Gujarat Titans, taking three wickets for 17 runs in four overs during their victory against Delhi Capitals in the Indian Premier League.
Khan dismissed KL Rahul with a leg-break, Nitish Rana with an adjusted length on a reverse sweep attempt, Saimar Raza with a googly and Axar Patel. His economical bowling played a key role in the high-scoring encounter, which saw a total of 419 runs scored between the two teams.
The performance marked Khan's 1,000th career wicket across formats: 706 in T20s, 214 in ODIs and 80 in first-class cricket. Cricket commentator Dundar Kumar confirmed the milestone, and Gujarat Titans issued a poster celebrating the achievement. The Afghanistan Cricket Board has not issued an official statement on the matter.
Khan's T20 economy rate since 2026 stands at 6.65, underscoring his return to elite form following back surgery after the 2023 World Cup. In a post-match statement, Khan said he had returned to action hastily and was not yet ready for Test cricket, adding that he was focusing on ODIs and the World Cup.
The bowling figures highlighted Khan's skillful variations, including leg-breaks and googlies, which earned widespread praise and reaffirmed his status among the world's top cricketers.
