Israeli Airstrikes Kill 10, Including Senior Hezbollah Commander, in Eastern Lebanon
Israeli airstrikes targeted Hezbollah positions in the Beqaa Valley in eastern Lebanon on Friday, killing at least 10 people, including a senior Hezbollah commander, Reuters reported.
The Israeli army confirmed the strikes hit Hezbollah command centers to neutralize threats along the northern border. The operation is one of the most significant cross-border actions since the 2024 U.S.-brokered ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah, which followed more than a year of deadly border clashes.
Hezbollah has not yet issued a response. Analysts cited in the report warn that the strikes could escalate tensions along the Israel-Lebanon border.
The attacks follow intelligence on renewed militant activity in eastern Lebanon and come amid Israel's heightened alert due to increased military activities in neighboring Syria and Lebanon.
