Iran's Parliament Speaker Calls Ceasefire, US Negotiations 'Illogical' Over Alleged Violations
Iran's Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf stated that a ceasefire and negotiations with the United States are "illogical" due to U.S. violations of three clauses in Iran's proposed plan.
In a post on his X page, Qalibaf cited specific breaches: non-adherence to a ceasefire in Lebanon, a drone entering Iranian airspace, and denial of Iran's right to uranium enrichment.
White House spokesperson Caroline Leavitt rejected claims that President Trump accepted Iran's demands. During a press briefing, she reaffirmed unchanged U.S. red lines, including an end to Iran's domestic uranium enrichment, and said negotiations would proceed behind closed doors over the next two weeks, conditional on the Strait of Hormuz remaining open.
Iran has closed the Strait of Hormuz to commercial ships, especially those related to the U.S., after a temporary reopening.
