Gunmen Kill Two Federal Police Officers in Northwest Pakistan

Two members of Pakistan's Federal Police were assassinated in an attack in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan.

The incident occurred when armed men riding a motorcycle opened fire on the officers who were shopping at a local market in the Kurram Garhi area, which is near the Kant police station in Banu.

The two victims have been named as Rakhniyaz and Rahmanullah. Both were serving in the Daryoba Mai unit of the federal police.

Immediately after the attack, the gunmen escaped from the location on their motorcycle. Local security forces reacted swiftly by sealing the area and beginning a search operation for the attackers involved in the assassination.

Reports indicate that no armed group or organization has taken responsibility for killing the two police members.

In another incident, a group of militants targeted an abandoned building that used to serve as a police station in the Shamozai area.

The militants set off explosives at the site, which was under the administrative control of the Shahrak police station. The building had been left empty since 2022 and therefore the detonation did not lead to any loss of life or injuries.

These two events have drawn attention to the security situation in the northwestern part of Pakistan, where such attacks have become more frequent in regions close to the border with Afghanistan.
