Marghi Katwazi, a former local police commander in Afghanistan, was killed on Friday in Yahya Khil district of Paktika province. Relatives of Katwazi stated that he had no enemies and had received an amnesty letter from the Taliban. He had fled to Pakistan following the Taliban's takeover but was forced to return.

Katwazi was shot dead inside his vehicle while returning home from the market, according to his relatives. Local Taliban officials in Paktika have not commented on the incident.

Pakistan has recently intensified efforts to deport Afghan refugees, having expelled more than two million Afghans in recent years. Since the Taliban came to power, former Afghan security and defense forces personnel have faced targeted assassinations in various provinces.
