Floods and Heavy Rains Kill at Least 179 in Afghanistan Since Late March
KABUL (Afghan Verified) -- Severe floods and heavy rains have killed at least 179 people in Afghanistan since late March, including 22 deaths in the past 24 hours, according to Afghanistan's disaster management authorities.
The disasters have injured 236 people and left nine others missing. More than 1,200 homes have been completely destroyed and over 5,700 damaged, affecting nearly 9,000 families.
In recent days alone, 48 houses were completely destroyed and 134 partially damaged.
The flooding has also destroyed more than 370 kilometers of roads and devastated over 18,000 acres of farmland.
The authorities reported these figures as the crisis continues to impact communities across the country.
