
Five Development Projects Completed in Samangan Province
Five development projects valued at 7.4 million afghanis have been completed and put into operation in the Khurram and Sarbagh districts of Samangan province.
Thamaruddin Shahrokhi, press officer for the Rehabilitation and Development Department, said the projects were implemented in the villages of Baba Qanbar, Mankobut, Qinar, Habash, Khadriyan and Kalur. They were carried out in coordination with the Rural Rehabilitation and Development Department and with technical cooperation from the ACTED office.
The projects include the repair, leveling and graveling of two roads totaling 4,861 meters long and 5 meters wide; construction of one small bridge; 18 meters of retaining wall and gabion; five washes and 60 meters of concrete side canal. They also encompass two drinking water projects, including the construction and repair of two drinking water networks with 8,146 meters of pipe extension and one ground concrete iron storage tank with a capacity of 30 cubic meters.
Shahrokhi stated that the completion of these projects has resolved problems for 37,100 local residents. During the four months of implementation, employment opportunities were provided for 600 people.
