Explosion Outside Moscow Train Station Kills One Police Officer, Injures Two
Russian authorities announced that an explosion outside a train station in Moscow, which killed one police officer and injured two others, was a suicide attack.
Russia's Investigative Committee identified the suspect as a 22-year-old man from the Udmurt Republic. The committee's spokesperson stated that the attacker traveled by train from St. Petersburg to Moscow on Sunday and died at the scene along with the police officer. The motive for the attack remains undetermined.
President Vladimir Putin said the suspect was apparently encouraged online to carry out the attack and that the explosion was remotely controlled. Speaking at a meeting with representatives of Russia's domestic intelligence service, Putin stated that terrorist attacks in the country have increased and are mostly carried out by "Ukrainian intelligence."
