Doctors Without Borders suspends non-essential activities at Nasser Hospital in Gaza
Doctors Without Borders (MSF) has suspended its non-essential activities at Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis, southern Gaza, to ensure the security of patients and staff and maintain the facility's neutrality.
MSF announced that the suspension began on Jan. 20 following reports of armed individuals present in the hospital premises and concerns over weapons being moved within the facility. Staff and patients reported seeing armed people, some wearing masks, in the hospital grounds, according to a Reuters report cited by Hasht-e Subh.
The decision comes amid a dire humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip, despite a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas. The Gaza Health Ministry stated that more than 590 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli forces since the ceasefire began, with four Israeli soldiers also killed in the same period.
