Contract Signed for Reconstruction of Aybak–Roy-e-Duab Road in Samangan

The Ministry of Public Works of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan has signed a contract for the fundamental reconstruction of a 20-kilometer road connecting Aybak city to the Roy-e-Duab district in Samangan province. The agreement, valued at 641.67 million Afghanis, was awarded to two construction firms and outlines a two-year timeline for project completion.

According to the ministry, the initial phase of the project requires the contracted companies to complete all necessary surveying and design work within 75 days. Following this preparatory stage, physical reconstruction of the roadway will commence. Officials stated that the infrastructure upgrade is intended to facilitate regional transportation, lower travel expenses, and stimulate local commerce.

The project is also expected to improve residents’ access to essential public services. By upgrading the route between Aybak and Roy-e-Duab, authorities aim to reduce transit times and enhance connectivity for communities relying on the corridor for trade, healthcare, and education.

The Ministry of Public Works has emphasized that the reconstruction will adhere to established engineering standards to ensure long-term durability. Once operational, the rehabilitated road is projected to serve as a key transit link within the northern province, supporting economic activity and daily mobility for local populations.
