Chechen Leader Kadyrov Rejects Sending Forces to Support Iran Against US, Israel
Ramzan Kadyrov, leader of Chechnya, stated he has no desire to send Chechen forces to support Iran in its confrontation with the United States and Israel.
Kadyrov said sending forces would only be possible if Iran did not attack neighboring countries and civilians. He referenced Iran's missile attacks on Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates and Qatar, calling those Gulf states "our brothers."
"If there were no such attacks on our brothers, then sending forces to defend Iran is completely real," Kadyrov said in a Telegram message, without providing further details.
His position contrasts with an earlier statement by Apti Alaudinov, commander of the "Akhmat" unit, who expressed readiness to participate in the war supporting Iran.
The comments come during a two-week pause in the war between the US, Israel and Iran, brokered by Pakistan last Thursday following the death of Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. Delegations from the US and Israel, as well as Iran, are scheduled to discuss issues in Islamabad.
