KABUL — The Afghanistan Canoe, Rowing and Sailing Federation (ACRSF) has received provisional membership from the Asian Canoe Confederation (ACC).

The General Directorate of Physical Education and Sport of Afghanistan confirmed the development in a statement posted on X, citing an official letter from the ACC. The provisional membership took effect on February 1, 2026.

This status makes Afghanistan's national canoe team eligible to compete in all official events organized by the ACC, including the Asian Games, according to the directorate's statement.

The decision provides formal continental recognition for the ACRSF and represents a key step toward greater international participation by Afghan athletes. However, the membership remains provisional until final approval at the ACC's 2027 congress, during which the federation will lack voting rights.

Officials from the Afghan directorate described the acceptance as an important administrative and sporting achievement. They expressed optimism that completing documentation and legal procedures would lead to full membership soon, enabling further development and broader engagement in global competitions.
