The Afghan Wireless Communication Company distributed about 500 iftar food packages to needy people, individuals with disabilities and municipal service staff in Herat province during Ramadan.

Wahid Ahmad Nuri, the company's representative in Herat, said the packages were prepared for 500 people referred by the Herat Municipality's cleaning department and the Department of Martyrs and Disabled.

Participants, particularly those with disabilities, called for greater support from charities and companies during Ramadan. Mohammad Nasser Walizadeh, a Herat resident, urged companies to assist the disabled "as much as they can, like Afghan Wireless."

Sultan Ahmad Saber, an advocate for disability rights in Herat, noted that economic challenges are more acute for this group amid warnings from international institutions about food shortages.

The company holds annual iftar programs and distributions for various needy segments of society, with hundreds participating this year in Herat.

Separately, Mawlawi Hibatullah Akhundzada, leader of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, issued a message congratulating the "mujahid and faithful people of Afghanistan" and Muslims worldwide on Eid al-Fitr. He prayed for acceptance of Ramadan worships including fasting, Taraweeh prayers and charities, and emphasized patience, piety, social compassion, unity and obedience to Islamic laws.

Akhundzada cited Quranic verses and prophetic hadiths on the virtues of fasting, prayer and Zakat al-Fitr. He urged Muslims to forgo suspicion, grudges and discord, and stressed duties such as security, adherence to sharia laws, cooperation with the Ministry of Commanding Good and Forbidding Evil, religious education, development, support for youth, children and returnees, and respect for other Muslims.
