Afghan, Uzbek Business Delegations Meet in Kabul to Strengthen Trade Ties

KABUL — Afghan and Uzbek business delegations held a joint meeting in Kabul to emphasize expanding economic cooperation, boosting exports and addressing trade challenges.

The Uzbek delegation was led by Andijan Governor Shukhrat Abdurakhmanov and Chamber of Commerce and Industry Director Davron Vakhabov, accompanied by around 60 traders and investors. Abdurakhmanov outlined Uzbekistan's economic capacities, including cargo and transport vehicles, textiles, agricultural products, poultry, pharmaceuticals, food products, cement and construction materials.

The governor expressed Uzbekistan's readiness to increase exports to Afghanistan and pursue joint investment opportunities. Both sides highlighted the potential for stronger economic ties through enhanced trade and investment.

Arian Zia Azimi, deputy director of the Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI), stressed the need to continue such meetings to further develop trade and investment relations. He underscored the importance of regular engagements to overcome existing obstacles.

Discussions also covered key challenges in trade, transit and investment, with particular attention to visa issuance issues faced by Afghan traders. Both delegations pledged to work together to resolve these barriers and facilitate smoother economic exchanges.

The meeting reflects ongoing efforts to deepen bilateral economic relations between Afghanistan and Uzbekistan, focusing on mutual benefits through increased commerce and collaborative ventures.
