
Afghan Taekwondo Athlete Mehdi Yaqoubi Defeats Armenian Opponent in Uzbekistan
TASHKENT, Uzbekistan (Afghan Verified) — Mehdi Yaqoubi, a member of Afghanistan's youth national taekwondo team, defeated his Armenian opponent in the under-45 kg category at the international youth taekwondo championships on Tuesday.
Yaqoubi advanced to the next round, according to the General Directorate of Physical Education and Sports.
The tournament began on Monday, April 13, and includes 991 athletes from 116 countries. Four athletes from Afghanistan are competing in the event.
The championships are taking place in Uzbekistan with participants from across the globe.
