Afghan Carpet Exports Reach 18 Million Dollars in Solar Year 1404

In the solar year 1404, the value of Afghan carpet exports reached 18 million dollars. According to the head of the Carpet Union, Abdullah Rahman Qal, this revenue came from the export of approximately 6,000 carpets and 4,000 meters of kilim to 37 countries. The primary markets for these Afghan products were the United States, Turkey, and various European countries.

Qal explained that domestic processing of carpets is already underway. He emphasized that if this aspect of the industry is expanded, it has the potential to create employment for up to 50,000 people. The union leader called on the Islamic Emirate to take steps to support the sector by building industrial parks dedicated to carpet weaving in every province.

Additionally, the Carpet Union is looking to expand its participation in international exhibitions as a means to promote Afghan carpets on a larger scale. These initiatives, if implemented, could significantly enhance the contribution of the carpet industry to the Afghan economy.

The figures provided by Qal indicate a steady interest in Afghan carpets from international buyers. By investing in infrastructure such as the proposed industrial parks, more jobs could be generated and the volume of exports could increase in the future. The union's requests reflect a desire to build on the current export success and further develop this traditional industry.
