517 Afghan Refugee Families Return from Pakistan and Iran

Five hundred seventeen Afghan refugee families returned from Pakistan and Iran on June twenty. These families crossed the border at four different points located in Nangarhar, Kandahar, Nimroz and Herat provinces. The largest number of returns happened at Torkham in Nangarhar province where three hundred eighty eight families arrived. Spin Boldak in Kandahar province received one hundred three families. Twenty six families came through the Silk Route in Nimroz province. Nine families entered Afghanistan at Islam Qala in Herat province. In addition to the families, a total of three thousand sixty refugees and five hundred eighty nine passengers returned on the same day. The High Commission for Addressing the Problems of Refugees organized support for the arriving families. The support consisted of registration services, financial aid, temporary shelter and informational sessions. Five hundred ninety four SIM cards were also given to the returnees to help them with communication needs. The informational sessions provided details on registration, transportation, financial assistance, shelter, the Islamic system, migration and education. Assistance was distributed to five hundred seventeen families in Torkham, seventy five families in Spin Boldak, nine families in Herat and two hundred ninety seven families in Kabul.
