Zelensky Says U.S. Delay Blocking Patriot Missile Production in Europe

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that previously announced plans to produce Patriot air defense missiles in Europe remain stalled due to a lack of final authorization from Washington.

Zelensky emphasized that expanding missile production is essential to protect civilians from intensifying attacks. He urged partners to accelerate all pending air defense cooperation agreements.

Kyiv has proposed joint missile production projects both domestically and with regional allies, but earlier licensing commitments have not been fully implemented, according to Zelensky.

The remarks came as negotiations involving the United States, Ukraine, and Russia began in Geneva, focusing on security developments and prospects for de-escalation in the ongoing conflict.

Ukraine and NATO partners have pursued stronger cooperation, including production partnerships with Romania and Poland to bolster regional defenses.

Russian aerial strikes continue to target Ukrainian infrastructure, heightening the urgency for Kyiv to secure adequate defensive missile supplies ahead of potential further escalations.

Resolving licensing and production obstacles could enhance Ukraine’s defense capabilities and influence future Western military collaboration in Europe.
