White House Warns Iran of Harsher Attacks if It Rejects 'Military Defeat'
WASHINGTON (Afghan Verified) -- White House spokesperson Caroline Leavitt stated Wednesday that President Donald Trump will carry out harsher attacks against Iran if it does not accept its "military defeat."
Leavitt made the remarks during a press briefing, warning Tehran against miscalculations. "If Iran does not accept the reality of the current situation and does not understand that it has been militarily defeated, President Trump will ensure that this country faces attacks harsher than before," she said.
The statements come as the joint United States-Israel war against Iran enters its fourth week. Leavitt described ongoing talks with Iran as "constructive," but said reports about a U.S. 15-article plan to end the war were not entirely accurate.
Separately, countries including Pakistan, Turkey and Egypt have initiated mediation and de-escalation efforts.
A senior Iranian official told Reuters that Tehran is reviewing a U.S. proposal to end the war. Although Iran's initial response was negative, the official said the plan has not been fully rejected.
Reports of possible progress in ending the conflict led to some improvement in global stock markets and a fall in oil prices. Investors have expressed concerns that the war has disrupted global energy supplies and fueled fears of rising inflation.
