Uzbekistan's State Security Service has seized nearly 38 kilograms of narcotics smuggled from Afghanistan. The main operation occurred in the Surkhandarya region bordering the country.
More than 37 kilograms of drugs were confiscated in Surkhandarya. This included 25.4 kilograms of opium and over 11 kilograms of hashish.
Six suspects were arrested in connection with the smuggling attempts. Among them were Afghan nationals.
Four suspects were apprehended in Samarkand. They included two Uzbek citizens and two foreign nationals.
Additionally, two Afghan nationals were detained at the Termez International Trade Center while attempting to sell over one kilogram of opium.
The suspects relied on body concealment methods, such as swallowing drug packets, to smuggle the narcotics across the border. Authorities carried out coordinated actions across multiple locations to intercept the substances and detain those involved.
