US Urges Citizens to Leave Afghanistan Immediately

Hasht-e Subh|

The US Embassy for Afghanistan in Qatar has urged American citizens to leave the country immediately following the escalation of clashes between the Taliban and Pakistan.

In a statement issued on Friday, February 27, the embassy advised US citizens to stay away from areas bordering Pakistan. It recommended exiting via land routes through Uzbekistan and Tajikistan borders if commercial flights are unavailable. The embassy warned that attempting to leave through Iran is dangerous and not recommended.

The statement highlighted that Afghanistan remains a high-risk country due to risks of unrest, crime, terrorism, arbitrary detentions, kidnapping, and limited health facilities.

This advisory comes amid reports that Pakistan bombed parts of Kabul, Kandahar, and Paktika provinces last night after Taliban attacks on Pakistani security posts along the Durand Line. Additionally, on the same day, Pakistani airstrikes targeted Taliban military bases in Paktia and Khost provinces.
