UNICEF has distributed educational materials to 239,100 children in the Herat and Badghis provinces of western Afghanistan. This effort was implemented to mitigate the impact of educational disruptions caused by earthquakes that affected the region.

As part of the initiative, UNICEF rehabilitated and restored eight schools that had been damaged by the earthquakes, ensuring that students have safe environments for learning. In addition to infrastructure repairs, the agency provided training to approximately 1,300 teachers and school staff members to improve the quality of instruction and learning conditions.

The aid program was funded through the Afghanistan Humanitarian Fund and supported by various international partners. These interventions are part of a larger, nationwide effort to restore educational facilities. Over the past year, more than 200 schools across Afghanistan have been reconstructed or rehabilitated to support the return of students to the classroom.
