KABUL (Afghan Verified) -- The United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) states that temperatures in Afghanistan are rising every year.

In a message issued on Tuesday, February 17, the program noted that cities are on the front lines of the climate crisis.

It highlighted that four out of every five residents in Kabul live in informal settlements. These communities are particularly vulnerable to severe weather events, the program emphasized.

UN-Habitat stated that such threats underscore the urgent need for urban actions to address these challenges.

The program had previously indicated that cities in Afghanistan are not prepared for rapid urbanization.
