UAE Sends 96 Tonnes of Medical Aid to Afghanistan
DUBAI — The United Arab Emirates sent 96 tonnes of medicines and medical supplies to Afghanistan, a shipment expected to benefit more than 250,000 people over three months by supporting essential healthcare services.
The consignment departed from Al Maktoum International Airport in Dubai on instructions from UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. This delivery represents a substantial contribution to addressing healthcare needs in Afghanistan.
The aid package includes relief supplies from the World Health Organization (WHO), Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), and the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF). These organizations provided portions of the medicines and supplies included in the 96-tonne shipment.
The initiative underscores international efforts to bolster medical infrastructure and services in Afghanistan through targeted humanitarian assistance. The precise composition of the medicines and supplies is geared toward essential healthcare requirements, ensuring broad reach to over a quarter of a million beneficiaries during the specified three-month period.
