A Turkish national identified as Ahmet Kazancı joined the Islamic State Khorasan in 2024 and worked in its Turkish-language propaganda unit in the mountainous areas of Pakistan's Balochistan province.
Reports based on a Turkish media investigation state that Kazancı produced written and promotional content for the group after traveling through Iran. He did not participate in combat operations.
Kazancı later attempted to leave the group due to harsh conditions and homesickness. Turkish intelligence detained him and transferred him to Turkey, where he received a prison sentence.
Some accounts indicate he also took part in recruitment and helped move fighters from other countries. One report mentions communication with another Turkish operative, Özgür Altun, who was arrested earlier near the Durand Line in a joint Turkish-Pakistani operation.
The details originate from interrogation statements covered by Turkish media outlets.

Reliability assessment
Four independent outlets (Pajhwok, ToloNews, Ariana News, Hurriyat) corroborate the core event with consistent details drawn from a Turkish media investigation; the verifiable fact is that the reports exist and align on the individual's identity, role, location, and timeline.
The source language mixes facts with framing or advocacy wording. Hurriyat: "project of insecurity in the region and neighboring areas" - this frames Pakistan's alleged actions as a deliberate destabilization scheme, presenting the Islamic Emirate's claim as validated fact with advocacy phrasing.
