Trump Delivers Record 108-Minute Address to Congress, Warns Iran on Nuclear Ambitions

U.S. President Donald Trump delivered a record-breaking 108-minute annual address to Congress on Tuesday, surpassing his previous 100-minute speech and former President Bill Clinton's marks of 89 and 85 minutes.

Trump highlighted achievements from his first year back in office, describing America as "bigger, better, wealthier, and stronger than ever." He touted increased U.S. oil production by over 600,000 barrels per day, receipt of more than 80 million barrels from Venezuela -- now called a "friend and new partner" -- and the death of a major Mexican drug trafficker. He claimed to have ended eight wars, pushed for a Gaza ceasefire and reconstruction via his "peace board," and vowed to end the Russia-Ukraine conflict, where he said 25,000 soldiers die monthly.

On Iran, Trump warned that the country possesses missiles capable of threatening Europe and U.S. bases abroad, reiterated that it must never acquire nuclear weapons, and said its nuclear potential was destroyed in prior U.S. airstrikes last June. He stated negotiations are ongoing but demanded an explicit pledge from Tehran that it will never pursue nuclear arms, issuing a 10-to-15-day ultimatum and warning of "really bad things" otherwise. Trump also claimed Iran killed 32,000 protesters in recent unrest, a figure disputed by Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, who cited 3,317 deaths and demanded evidence. Iranian human rights groups estimated over 7,000 killed, though independent verification is difficult due to media restrictions.

Trump defended his trade policies, announcing a new 10% tariff on all imports -- citing Section 122 of the 1974 Trade Act for up to 15% for 150 days -- following a Supreme Court ruling limiting his unilateral tariff authority. He expressed shame over the court's decision, calling some justices unpatriotic and influenced by foreign interests. Republicans frequently stood to applaud, while Democrats remained seated in protest.

Trump emphasized domestic security gains, including reduced crime, secured borders, and strengthened law enforcement.
