Khalid Hanafi, Taliban Minister for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice, in recent remarks likened the relationship between the people and rulers to that of 'father and son,' stating that the Taliban administration acts as the 'father of the nation.' He said the people are obligated to accept this system.

Saif al-Islam Khyber, spokesman for the Taliban Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice, posted an audio recording of Hanafi's speech on his X account.

In the speech, Hanafi again emphasized unconditional adherence to 'Islamic Sharia,' claiming that the Taliban ensures 'the rights of all in accordance with the Quran, Sunnah, and Hanafi jurisprudence.'

Hanafi has previously stated that the Taliban's beliefs and policies will not change 'even if the world turns upside down or sideways.'

The Taliban has imposed severe restrictions, particularly on Afghan women and girls, including closing girls' schools and heavily limiting their access to the job market and public spaces.
