
Taliban Tests Air Defense System in Jowzjan Province
SHEBERGHAN, Afghanistan — Local sources in Jowzjan province reported that Taliban fighters under the 209 Al-Fath Corps tested air defense systems in Sheberghan on Wednesday, the 5th of Hamal.
The test lasted nearly 20 minutes and caused concern among residents in areas including Eid Mohalla, Khoja Kheyran and Jangal Bagh, according to the sources. Residents expressed worries over the possibility of Pakistani attacks in the province, citing the firings and preparations as heightening tensions.
The Taliban has not provided details on the matter.
The exercise comes amid past Pakistani airstrikes in various Afghan provinces, including Kabul and Nangarhar, which local sources said inflicted heavy damages and resulted in numerous civilian deaths.
