Suicide Car Bombing Targets Police Station in Pakistan's Bannu, Killing Five

BANNu, Pakistan -- At least five people were killed and 13 others wounded when a suicide bomber rammed an explosives-laden vehicle into the Domel police station in Bannu, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, on Thursday.

The blast caused major damage to the police compound and nearby homes. Among those killed were civilians, including a woman and a child. Four police personnel were among the wounded, though initial reports focused on civilian casualties.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack. The incident occurred amid a rising wave of militant attacks in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, with militancy often blamed on networks operating near the Afghanistan border.

The Domel police station is a key facility in Bannu district, which has faced repeated militant violence in recent months. Rescue teams rushed the wounded to local hospitals, where some remain in critical condition.

Security forces have intensified operations in the region to counter the surge in attacks, but such incidents continue to challenge counter-militancy efforts.
