
Russian Attacks on Ukraine Kill at Least 16, Injure Dozens
Ukrainian officials have given details of the casualties from the latest wave of Russian attacks. They reported that at least 16 people have been killed and dozens more injured in the strikes. The attacks affected various parts of the country, with specific figures available for three locations.
The city of Odesa suffered nine deaths and 23 injuries. Four people died in Kyiv, one of them a 12-year-old child. The number of wounded in the capital was in the dozens. The Dnipropetrovsk region saw three fatalities along with 34 people injured.
The officials also provided information on the number of weapons used in the attacks. Russia sent 659 drones and 44 missiles toward Ukraine in the previous 24 hours. However, Ukrainian air defenses were able to intercept most of those drones and missiles.
For its part, Russia has explained the purpose of the strikes. Russian authorities have said that the targets were military facilities and energy infrastructure.
Russia has also given reports about an attack from the Ukrainian side. According to those reports, a Ukrainian drone attacked the Russian port of Tuapse on the Black Sea, killing two children.
