Russian Ambassador to Pakistan Calls Civilian Killings in Afghanistan 'Serious Cause for Concern'
Russian Ambassador to Pakistan Albert Khorev expressed serious concern over civilian deaths in Afghanistan amid escalating tensions between the Taliban and Pakistan, describing the situation as unacceptable.
In statements reported by TASS, Khorev said Moscow views the escalating conflicts between the two countries with alarm, particularly due to civilian casualties. He urged both sides to resolve differences through political and diplomatic channels and to begin negotiations as soon as possible to reduce tensions.
The remarks come amid heightened border clashes that resumed in late February, with mutual accusations of attacks. Taliban officials have claimed that Pakistani airstrikes targeted a medical center in Kabul, while Pakistani officials denied this, stating the strikes hit only military facilities.
According to the Taliban Ministry of Interior, the attacks killed 408 people and wounded at least 265 others. Pakistani officials have described the situation as an open armed confrontation between the two sides.
